WordPress MU and John Cusack

on: Apr/16/07 and its been viewed 6,946 times

So, I received an extension on my final deadline by a week - which I’m thrilled about, to no end. The final chapters I’m currently writing are on WordPress MU and I seriously need every single second I can have to write these chapters. Thank you, Melody - a thousand times thank you! I will be completed with the book by April 26 - followed by an extensive editing process and final author review where I will have the chance to update everything to reflect the changes that have taken place within the WordPress software over the past several months. Those WordPress folks are a challenge to keep up with - but the development of the software is pretty exciting, so it’s been a real pleasure.

John Cusack, Better Off Dead, Pushing Tin, MoviesDuring the course of writing this book - I’ve tried not to allow myself to become distracted with my usual distractions. I’m already easily distracted, as a rule - that’s just my nature. I’ve kept myself away from the TV and the News programs. Friends would swear that I’ve dropped off the face of the earth and have hit true hermit status over the past several months - but it will all come to an end soon enough and I’ll be back to my usual routine. Because I have this absolute need to have background noise going on at all time while I write - - I turned to movies to keep the noise at an acceptable level. I can’t even tell you how many movies I’ve gone through over the past 5-6 months. Blockbuster and Netflix love me and I’m sure they are about to offer me an honorary membership..I’m sure of it.

I have watched every single movie John Cusack has ever made during the writing of this book - - most of them during the last month, or so.. which has lead me to two things:

  1. John Cusack has never made a bad movie
  2. I will forever associate WordPress MU with John Cusack - I couldn’t help it if I tried

As I write this, I’m watching Pushing Tin. In the last 2-3 weeks, I’ve watched:

Arguably, not the biggest blockbusters in the world - - but I love his quirkiness. I think my favorite John Cusack movie is actually one of his oldest - Better Off Dead. Fantastic flick! Do you have a favorite John Cusack film - - or aren’t you a fan at all?

oooo - that is a good one. Haven’t watched it recently, though - I’ll have to put that on my list for the final week, I think :) Thanks!

My favorite part was the burger singing “Everybody Wants Some” from Van Halen! Heh!

Undoubtedly my favourite is Grosse Point Blank, but I love some of the early stuff like Sixteen Candles.
Also worth checking out are High Fidelity, Being John Malkovich and The Grifters.
Glad to hear the book is almost done, I am eagerly awaiting its release! :d

High Fidelity might be my favorite (fantastic book, also), but cliched as they are, I also really like Serendipity and Must Love Dogs. Watched Grifters when it first came out and it did nothing for me, but I’m tempted to check it out again now. I’ll pretty much check anything out with him in it with the exception of Runaway Jury which I refuse to watch with how anti-2nd Amendment I’ve heard it is.

Ghyslain - I just responded to this comment in an email to you - and yes I did get your text and apologize that I didn’t send back a confirmation on it.. things have been a little on the nuts side around here :D Your text was exactly what I was looking for! I’ll be getting the copy of the book back for final edits at the end of April and will be able to add the comments you sent over at that time. Thank so much! :)>-

UKStevieB - Being John Malkovich was an awesome one too. Another one to add to my list! :D

Astro - I haven’t read High Fidelity.. you recommend?
I’m not sure I watched Runaway Jury either… oh, and def. re-watch Grifters - - I liked it! (of course, you’re talking to a person whose favorite alltime movie is “The Red Violin” :p )

I’d very highly recommend High Fidelity. The movie was well done, but toned down a bit. The book is also loaded with music trivia stuff, which is part of why I’d really recommend it for you with your love of music.

The book of Runaway Jury was good, but rather than focusing it on cigarettes like the book did, the movie went after guns. From what I understand, they pretty much handed the story to the Brady group or one of the other major anti-gun organizations and let them do rewrites seeing how much anti-gun propaganda they could put it. It’s too bad, since I love both Cusack and Hackman, and I heard it had one of Hackman’s best acting jobs in it.

I’m a huge fan. He’s coming out with a couple more this year: Martian Child and Grace is Gone opening in the next several weeks.

But as for bad movies: Must Love Dogs. I didn’t like it. He can still “do no wrong”, I suppose, but the movie was suckitude.

That’s the best news I’ve heard all day - - the two new movies from him this year, that is!

Must Love Dogs - - I didn’t mind that movie. It was quirky… and that is part of what I love about his films - the quirk-factor :)
