All this kaffufle surrounding flu shots! Recently, the Kerry campaign made this statement:
They said it, in reaction to Dick Cheney being a recipient of a flu shot, after President Bush asked the public to hold off on getting one, unless they fell into the category of: 1.) Elderly, 2.) The very young, 3.) Have chronic illnesses.
Dick Cheney falls into the third category. He has chronic heart disease. But the Kerry campaign didn’t take that into consideration. However, they must have understood the concept because they didn’t breath a word when Bill Clinton got his flu shot, he falls into the same category of chronic illness. What the.. ?

I think he probably qualifies on the 1st category too, but what about Snow and Frist?
Not that I care particularly if they get them or not hey if they have the money and the connections to get one why shouldn’t they, it’s the American way, If some feeble old granny in Baltimore dies of flu this winter, thats just too bad….

Lisa - come on. You know the reason: they’re stewpid. They keep displaying their stewpidity and I am still amazed at those who are willing to vote for this “party”. Criminey.

Red - I don’t know about the health of Frist and Snow . . do you?

Grumpy - good to see ya!
Criminey is right!

Hell no, I don’t even know who they are….

I think the whole thing is about hate. I can’t believe the amount of hate that people are directing towards Pres. Bush. It’s a little out of hand, I think. Anything they can come up with to poke at him with, they will. If that means they want to bitch about the VP getting a flu shot (as teensy a thing as that is), then that’s what they’ll do. I would think they’d be focusing on the future … at least that’s what a pres. hopeful should be doing.

Isn’t Frist and Snow those two guys who played with Tigers in Vegas?? no, no, they’re named something else. Now that’s bugging me. What ARE their names?
3:03 pm on October 21st, 2004
siegfield and Roy, well half of him at least…
I don’t think Bush and his campaigners are doing anything more or less than The Kerry camp, it’s just how you chose to present it.
5:36 pm on October 21st, 2004
Tony Snow?
5:46 pm on October 21st, 2004
it’s siegFREID, isn’t it? who’s the one that was mauled?
6:03 pm on October 21st, 2004
Snow is 65 or older. Frist is a medical doctor who volunteers at hospital clinics in DC.

Well, there ya have it - kaffufle for nothing.
6:22 pm on October 21st, 2004
I was all in a good mood till I read your post. There needs to be a new rule - candiates need to not campaign or talk about it in any way shape or form two weeks before the election. Gawd I’m so sick of it. Kerry is such a child.
6:56 pm on October 21st, 2004
Lori, wouldn’t that be great if there was a 2 week period of SILENCE?
8:19 pm on October 21st, 2004
The Bush Administration can’t so much as fart without the Democrats declaring that Kerry would NEVER offend other world leaders with his heinous Taco Del Mar-propelled butt stench.
How long until the election’s over?
Good blog. Going in my Blogmarks!

they are all hypocrites!

Good grief! My sister has asthma and the flu could lead to more serious ailments. She got a shot even though I’d argue she’s much healthier than Dick Cheney with his heart condition. When a candidate is desparate he says desparate things.

Siegfield!?!?!?! where did I pull that one from! I don’t know what a sieg is but Sure don’t need a field of them. Roy was the one that go chewed on.
As far as this flu shot smear, it is kinda childish, but it goes on from both sides. Rather than complain about who said this and who said that, the question is why? the sad fact is that this is the 18th comment on the subject on this Blog alone, people crave this kind of garbage news, and that is why they feed the monster, if we were not so obsessed it would not come up.
7:27 am on October 22nd, 2004
And yet, here you are, Red - - feeding the monster along with the rest of us.
I’m glad you are - it just wouldn’t be the same without ya
7:56 am on October 22nd, 2004
I know, I wasn’t meaning it as a smear on anyone, and worse than us there are people out there whose actual voting will be swayed by comments like those and the “Goose hunter” (If a politician did that back home it would be suicide but then we don’t have the right to be armed to the teeth) If you don’t think anyone is wishy washy enough to be swayed by such a comment, just think about it for a moment, these people are not stupid, they know how to manipulate the press, how to campaign, they don’t do anything unless it is effective.
3:28 pm on October 22nd, 2004
And now for comment #21 on this subject - I think the real issue here is why we don’t order flu vaccines from an American company? I realize the Left will say because GWB outsources to Hell & back, but so does THKerry with her ketchup…
Point being: perhaps whoever wins this election (GWB!!) will realize that we can’t depend on other nations to provide for our needs. That in itself isn’t the American way. And I do realize the cost savings, etc., but still. Yes, that’s my argument “but still…” because neither side is right in this case.
1:36 pm on October 25th, 2004
America is reliant on imports, always has been, always will be, so I don’t see how it is the American way.
The reason for the shortage is because the batch from the UK plant was found to be contaminated and rightfully the production was shut down. This could just have easily happened if the factory was in the US, unless you suggest that the US FDA would not have prevented contaminated flu vaccine from being circulated.
P.S. Frist’s excuse for having the Jab was “….members of Congress were also in a high-risk group because they had to mingle with the public and shake a lot of hands as part of their official duties” make of that what you will, but Bush will probably shake more hands this month than Frist will shake in a lifetime….
