What a day

on: Apr/7/05 and its been viewed 672 times

What is it? 4am? About that.

It’s been a full, full day - - and I am sitting here at 4am trying to decide between sleep, or a cup of coffee. The activities of this day would probably take up all of the harddrive space I have available on the server that I’m on.

Let’s just leave it at this - -

The posting of private information about a person, without their consent, is just not a nice or a good thing to do. Especially when that private information is not readily accessible anywhere on the net. It’s one thing if you’ve obtained it from a WHOIS database from a registrar - - that is public info. It’s one thing if the person had posted it on his/her website for the world to see.

But, if you are privvy to a person’s private information, because of a former friendship or association with the person, and choose to post it on the net as some sort of retaliation for a disagreement that you shared with the person in a blog thread, for crying out loud - - well, it’s just wrong.

No matter how much you may despise that person. It’s still wrong.

No matter how much that person has been goading you in debate and discussion. It’s still wrong.

That would be like me getting into a heated argument with my mother - - then going to the net and saying “Here everyone - - here is her name, address and phone number, have at it! That’ll teach her to ever disagree with one of my blog posts ever again! Ha! I showed her!”

People, please.

It takes a whole lot of diverse people to make this world as interesting as it is. Don’t take to a blog and expect that every single person who comes upon it is going to agree with every brilliant word you spew forth. It ain’t gonna happen. Learn to brush it off. Learn to let it go. Either embrace the other for their differences - - or walk away from it and don’t bother yourself with it anymore.

Ban the IP. Block the e-mail. Delete the comment.

Take a bath. Have a drink. Eat a cookie. Walk a mile.

Is it so hard to just take a deep breath and just walk away from the blog?

I suppose most blogs would be easy to walk away from, but this one???? Nahhhhh.

    Yeah…

The stuff people say about others publicly is just ridiculous these days.

Particularly in IM conversations that get posted in the hopes of portraying a certain person as a lunatic or something because they believe in a cause.

Real friends just don’t do that.

As usual, Lisa, you’re right on the money.

Yea, I read and heard about that one. That type of thing is not what I’m speaking of though. I’m talking real information - - not inferred or insinuated heresay. I’m talking about phone numbers, home addresses, business phone, business address . . things that could easily bring the debate to a persons doorstep or place of employment.

Didn’t happen to me, personally - thankfully . . was just a situation I had to deal with. It had a good, mutual resolution with all parties involved before it got too very ugly.

It probably was Spam Karma’s lunch. Have had that problem every now and again.

Geeze, you just gotta bring up the brownies when I’m hungry! If that isn’t bad enough, suddenly I get the urge for brownies rather than just brownies…

Do you mean brownies - or brownies?

Sounds like a serious case of the munchies.

Lisa - Yep, those kinda brownies. I can’t remember if it was mom and dad or my aunt and uncle who wasn’t too happy when I told either my little sister or cousin to remember that certain substances are fat soluble, so if they take their herbs, tie them up in cheesecloth, and then stick it in the butter in the pan as the butter melts and bubbles away for a while, the good stuff comes out…

This one comes from the wonderful MontiLee over at the WEF. I had to make these the night I found the recipe and they’re easily some of the best brownies I’ve ever had!

    Guinness Brownies
    —————————————————————————-
    4 eggs
    ¾ C. superfine sugar
    8 oz. bittersweet chocolate, chopped
    4 oz. white chocolate, chopped
    6 T. unsalted butter
    ¾ C. all-purpose flour
    ¾ C. Nestle’s cocoa power
    1 ¼ C. Guinness stout
1 pt. Heavy whipping Cream and pinch of sugar (optional)

a.. Preheat the oven to 375° F. Butter an 8-inch-square pan.

b.. In an electric mixer, combine the eggs and sugar. Beat until light and fluffy.

c.. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the bittersweet chocolate, white chocolate and butter, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and beat into the egg mixture.

d.. Sift the flour and cocoa together and beat into the chocolate mixture. Whisk in the Guinness.

e.. Pour into the pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out almost clean. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.

f.. To serve, whip the cream and a little sugar in a chilled bowl and dollop on top of cut brownies.

Serves 2, maybe 3 if you’re feeling generous.

I totally agree with every word you wrote. You can passionately disagree with someone and still behave like a responsible adult who values and respects the lives of other human beings.
