Weekend Wrap Up

on: Jun/21/04 and its been viewed 1,104 times

I was on-call yesterday and it wasn’t a bad day, really. Except for the fact that the weather was absolutely beautiful and I wanted nothing more than to be outside doing some yard work. Also, we just filled the pool - but it’s not quite ready for swimming, yet . . so that made it better to take. If the pool had been ready, I would have been bummed. I really despise working weekeneds, ya know.

The 10 year review of the OJ Simson trial has bored me - and they can stop doing it anytime now. Greta VanSustren intereviewed OJ and then interviewed his sports agent. Then Larry King interviewed the Brown’s and the Goldmans. Personally, I’d had enough of the OJ thing back in 1994. It’s over…it’s been over for awhile. The nation OD’d on OJ, at the time - - I think I’m STILL on OJ overload from back then. This is just me being too lazy to change the channel. ;)

The be-heading of Paul Johnson left me sick, angry and tired. I had clicked a link to what I thought was a story on the attack - and it turned out it was pictures of Paul Johnson that the terrorists had taken after they beheaded them. It was on Drudge. I must’ve missed his “Grotesque Pictures” warning before I clicked. I’m not the type of person who NEEDS to see such things. Some people do — as for me? I have enough of an imagination and I don’t need the ‘reality’ of the moment to speak to me. Those images have been sticking with me ever since - - and I can’t seem to get them out of my head. It’s a disgusting feeling. I feel horribly for the family of Paul Johnson - and wish them well, as empty as that sounds. What is more disgusting to me when I hear Americans blame America first for this horrendous act. It baffles me to no end.

I somehow got corraled into hosting this years 4th of July BBQ - not quite sure how that happened…and how I let it happen at such short notice, too. So, busy making lists of stuff to get and making sure that things are in place for the event. Every year, Chris puts on a decent fireworks show in our back yard - - it rivals the towns show, quite honestly. Because we live out in the country, in the middle of nowhere - - we’re not held to the city’s fireworks ordinance - - we can do the ‘illegal’ stuff out here. It’s awesome.

Now, after a nice, relaxing weekend - it’s back to work. It’s not going to be happening for much longer, though. I have a few things in the works that, as soon as they are in place over the next few weeks - I’ll be saying goodbye to my day job and working mostly from home. I can’t wait!

Have a great Monday, all!

Now, wait a minute! I thought they hired someone to do weekends and you didn’t have to do that anymore.

So far, they have someone who is willing to take call every other weekend and are recruiting for someone else to take to opposite weekends.

It still sucks to be on call on the weekends…but the weekends are decreased and she didn’t go through with decreasing our pay.

Hopefully they’ll hire someone soon. /blech
