Ringing in the New Year

on: Dec/31/04 and its been viewed 896 times

Happy new year, everyone. Celebrate. Be happy. Just be safe - watch out for crazy people on the roads and please don’t drink and drive.

I am greatly looking forward to 2005 a great deal. 2004 was a very good year and I have absolutely no complaints about 2004 at all - - it was incredible as far as years go. In July of this year I quit my full time nursing job and took the leap into full time self-employment. It was scary, exciting, exhilerating and freeing all at the same time. I had no idea where it would lead - - change makes me uncomfortable, however regret makes me absolutely miserable. I didn’t want to do the ‘woulda, coulda, shoulda’ in the years to come - so I lept and landed and so far, so good.

Business has been kind to me. My clients have been very kind to me. I’ve met some incredible people through my work - and my clients are some of the best folk around (err . . for those of you who aren’t clients, you’re great, too! :D)

A few weeks ago, I made a tough choice. Tough for me, personally - because it means letting go and letting someone else help me. Not that I’m a control freak or anything (just a freak, is all) - it’s just the change thing and the dreaded ‘what if’s’. It didn’t last long, however - even though it was a tough choice, once I made it - it was an easy decision.

I quietly started scouting around and poking my nose in places with renewed consideration with my renewed interest. I came upon someone who has been right under my nose for a couple of months. She has been hosting with us at Blogs About for a few months.

For a few weeks, I watched what she was doing with her own blog - not just with the design, but with her coding skills and knowledge of the workings of WordPress. Turns out, she is very adept with Expression Engine and pMachine, as well - which are two areas where I’m not so strong. That was one of the things I was looking for was someone who was strong where I was weak, and vice versa.

I’m really thrilled to welcome Kimberly to E.Webscapes. She brings a lot to the table in terms of blog implementation knowledge, CSS experience, cross-browser compatability issues and thorough database knowledge and experience . . which does come in handy quite often, believe it or not. Along with her experience and knowledge of WordPress, Expression Engine and pMachine - it was an easy decision to make once I contacted her and shared some ideas back and forth. She’s from my hometown of Houston, Texas and I’ve been enjoying getting to know her and am looking forward to working with her in the near future. She starts yesterday early January - which is perfect timing for some exciting business ventures we have planned for the early new year and beyond!

After seeing what she’s doing (hey, she even wrote her own PHP based hack for WordPress . . ask her about her “Commenters Blogroll”) it was a complete no brainer. I’m excited to have you on board, Kimberly, and looking forward to continued growth and expansion, with your help and talents!

Raising my glass to 2005!

Ha! You and Kimberly could be twins. You both get engrossed in your work. You both have a teenage son. What else? Oh, you both love the Internet. Amazing! It’s like LisaKim.

    Heh.
