The deep fried turkey was a raving success at Thanksgiving dinner. To all those who emailed with luck and good wishes, I’m happy to report that we did not burn the house down! The turkey was completely contained within the frier the entire time..yay us! We actually fried the turkey outside, so I didn’t even have a chance to obsess over the potential of fires, and the like. I wish I would have gotten a picture - - Chris rigged up this pulley system with rope and eyehooks in order to lower the turkey into the boiling oil. It was really a sight to see.
I can easily say that I will never go back to oven roasting a turkey ever again. Forget the fact that it was incredibly delicious (we fried the turkey in peanut oil) - but a 15lb turkey only took about an hour and fifteen minutes from start to finish. The meat literally was falling off the bone by the time we were ready to serve up dinner. The only downside that I can see is that you can’t stuff a turkey that is going to be emersed in oil - - but I can give that up pretty easily. Brownberry makes some nice stuffing mixes that work well as a substitute for homemade.
We had our first snow of the season on Thanksgiving day - - it was beautiful, but fleeting. Of course, snow means skiing - which is my favorite winter-time stress reliever, so I cannot wait for the kind of snowfall that stays around longer than one afternoon. We took the early snow as fair warning and gathered up our skies and snowboards and took them into the shop to get nicely waxed and sharpened in anticipation for a busy ski season (in contrast to last year when we barely had any snowfall at all and hardly had the chance to get on the slopes..bah!)
With a quiet holiday weekend behind me.. I did get a lot accomplished. I redesigned Lindsey’s blog with a pretty new Christmas theme, just in time for the holidays. She’s excited about this theme, because this is the very first year that she’ll be getting her very first Christmas tree for her apartment - - so the new theme fits perfectly! I also launched a new WordPress MU for AZfans.com, which is a new blogging community giving away free blogs to Arizona sports fans everywhere (ahem…Go Pack!). As well as launch Amy’s nice, new quieter, simpler theme at Kvetch Blog - - I did her first design about two years ago, and she was ready to tone it down and bit with a simple, but nice new theme for her blog.l I also had the chance to sit down and finally sit down and update my portfolio at E.Webscapes. Trying, in earnest, to get more client projects off my plate in order to gear up for yet another busy year. Hmm.. someday I’ll redo my design here on this blog - I’m getting a little tired of green and pink.
What are some of your favorite color combinations? I need a little inspiration if I’m actually going to do it!

Lisa, Glad to hear your turkey turned out and tasted delicious. My girls wore me out but it was a good wear out. They make me so happy.
One of my favorite color combinations are midnight blue and white with touches of black and pink. It might sound ferocious but try it and see. Of course too much of the darker colors won’t work. It has to be a balanced look but it can work.
Hope you get alot of snow this winter. It sounds like you really like to ski.

Ahhh, the Alton Brown turkey frying mechanism. I know just the one and can imagine the sight it is.
