Normalcy

After all the chaos around here the past few days - I’ve been hard at work catchng up. Funny thing about self-employment - you don’t get sick days. Strange, but true. So many people I used to work with say things to me like “Must be nice. Be your own boss. Make your own hours. Live by your own rules” Problem is, when things like family emergencies happen - - I can’t call in sick. I mean I can and will - but it’s not as simply as picking up the phone, calling the boss and saying “Sorry - I’ve got this emergency, you’ll have to do without me today” /click.

I’m not complaining. I love my job! Just some days it’s more challenging than others.

So - if you’ve emailed or otherwise tried to get ahold of me within the last week, rest assured I am going through my inbox and responding to the emails one at a time and with a little overtime, I will be getting to your email very soon. Thanks for your patience!

Will the blogosphere survive with one less political blogger? All signs point to yes.

In the meantime - a few bloggy type updates:

  1. A few people have emailed to ask why I quit blogging politics.

I used to. Quite a lot really. I stopped for a number of reasons:

    • Poliblogging is oversaturated. What could I say that wasn’t being said on a gazillion blogs everywhere you click? Most political blogs are the same. They are all blogging the same issues. Usually with the same commentary. /snore. I have a few that I read regularly - but I stopped the poliblogging when I felt it became overly redundant
    • My politics changed somewhere along the line. I started out polibloging as a right wing conservative, and by the time I stopped - I define myself more as a libertarian, for the most part. I used to ‘Blog 4 Bush’ until I couldn’t stand the taste of it anymore - - there just became too many things I disliked about some of what the Bush Admininstration was/is doing and I couldn’t stomach it any longer. Once upon a time, I was aligned with the right wing conservative blogs . . . and today, I find not so much in common with the VRWC crowd…and just kinda march to my own bongo, ya know? So, instead of creating a new ‘polibloging platform’ - I just stopped. Again, it’s redundant and boring.
    • Did I mention that political blogs in the blogosphere are redundant? I think I’m repeating myself

Doesn’t mean I dont have a political opinion. Or that I don’t keep up with politics in this country, and abroad. I do. Every day. I discuss it amongst friends and blow the roof off the house in debates between myself and Chris. Maybe someday I’ll start blogging those thoughts and opinions again - but I don’t see it coming anytime soon.

So, I’m not sure I’m reading this right. You think poliblogging is oversaturated and redundant? Is that what you said? Hm. That’s curious. Do you define redundant as “everyone is pissed off at everyone in the other party most of the time”? That’s how I see it, that’s why I rarely read them anymore. There’s enough hate in the real world, I like to think of the blogosphere as a place to get away and pretend allll is happy-happy-joy-joy!

    Speedos to you!

    ;))

You’ve gone to the other side??? *sniffs* Just kidding doll! I haven’t blogged much on politics for a long while as well. I just have burn out on the topics. I rarely watch the news anymore either.

I simply like this site. It’s great. I don’t have enough words to describe what I see. Greetings

Leanne - redundant equals overly repetative. Over and over and over and over. I don’t see the blogosphere as a place to go and pretend… because what I enjoy about reading the blogs I read is that it’s like reality TV, only in blog form :) I like reading about other people, getting to know them through their blogs, etc. The politics bore me. It’s predictable and repetative.

The only thing in my life that should be repetative are the reps I do in my weight training! ;)

Lori - Hey you! I wouldn’t say I’ve gone over to the other side. I would never describe myself as a left winger - - good grief no! But at the same time, I don’t describe myself as a right winger either. Both sides leave me wanting. There are issues and platforms I can relate to on BOTH sides of the political coin. And the state of politics in this country disgust me to no end.

I see the poliblog slamfest that I mentioned as redundant - new topics, same fight. It’s all drama. ;)

And I didn’t mean pretend as in PRETEND, I just get away from the news/politics/high prices at the grocery store/lane hogs at the pool by bloghopping. But you already knew that. :*

Hi! I´ve arrived to your blog casually, and just want to say that BUSH SUCKS and I´m glad that you´ve realized also. Tell it to all your friends, and may be he (or his party, it´s the same) won´t be winning the next elections. Because what happens in your country affects the rest of the world.
Greetings from Argentina, also want to say that i´m a free-lance graphic designer, just like you!
(sorry for my english, i know it´s not so good, but i also know that you´ll get it)
    tks!

See, now did I say “Bush Sucks” ?

This, friends, is what happens when you post anything remotely political. You get folks coming around putting words in your mouth.

Don’t cry for me Argentina - have a great day!

Heh. Last time I checked, Argentinean’s opinions didn’t count when it came to our political parties, anyway. Argentina sucks. stfukthx.

I don’t think most people realize that libertarian is pretty much right smack in the middle of the two parties. IMO, it’s the best of both worlds. Too bad people are too busy blindly picking sides to realize this.

Just so you know, Libertarian pretty much describes the Democrat party in the USA. There is no left wing or even progressive party of any note in the US with Republicans being Right Wing and Democrats being Centrist.

Good to see that younger girls are taking an interest in politics over there, even if it is through the spectrum of American pro-neo-conservatism. Go read about hyperreality by Baudrillard.

Lots of love, a History with Politics double major from Liverpool, UK.

Been living in Argentina for 2 years now. Will also be glad to finally move to Canada next year. Argentina is corrupt to the bone, this will never change. Lots of potential, pitty the people dont have it. For the argies among you, I am NOT attacking your country. You know its true what im saying. One last thing: I am NOT an american.
