There's a great power in words, if you don't hitch too many of them together. ~Josh Billings

Myrtle Beach or Bust

Leaving on a jet plane….. at exactly 7:05 AM tomorrow morning, Chris and I are hopping a plane and scooting our collective asses outta Wisconsin for 5 days. To be very honest, this isn’t the best time for a vacation. I have gobs of client work to complete and I’m still in the final throes of book editing - but an opportunity came up that we just couldn’t turn down. A friend of ours had a week open on a condo rental on the beach in Myrtle Beach and offered it, fully knowing that I needed a sanity break, else I lose my mind completely. Since both Chris and I run businesses that are mobile - wherever there is a laptop and WiFi, we’re good as gold - we thought a change of scenery would be a good thing. Lazing at the beach editing a book and coding client sites is better than my stuffy office - so we decided to take the opportunity to hightail it outta here for awhile. We are planning a few dives (SCUBA) while we are there - - the South Carolina coast has some pretty cool Civil War wreck dives..so I’m really looking foward to getting my dive on again.

While I’m gone, sunning myself on the beach - check out the SXSW Interactive Panel idea that my pal Susie posted. If you remember, I spoke as a panelist at SXSWi 2006 and am up for speaking on this panel as well - - but it needs a few votes in order to get approval by the powers that be. The idea?

Blogging Tool Death Match
Every blog project starts with the same question: Which blog platform is the right one to use? Answering this question correctly can make or break the final product. Get the nitty-gritty on each platform from experts who will defend their software choice against all challengers. Will it come to blows?

If accepted, we will be reviewing/comparing WordPress, Movable Type, Expression Engine and Typepad. It will be the same motley crew as the 2006 gig: Joelle Reeder, Peter Flaschner, Susie Gardner and Paul Chaney. We’d love to play match up with the different blogging platforms available - if you think this would be a useful addition (or if you really just want to do me a favor) - go cast your vote for the Blogging Tool Death Match. Can you guess which platform I’ll be representin’?

And with that - I’m outta here. Have a fabulous week/weekend!

Be sure to take at least one day and take yourself off of the Internet. It’s liberating.

Yes! We’re in Northwestern Wisconsin, so the Twin Cities ends up being our cultural hub. That header pic you did for me last time is at our Wisconsin lake cabin. Too fun!
