Liberals Gone Wild

So, their offices have been broken into, vandalized, and robbed. Gun shots have pierced the doors and windows of several offices. Fortunately, no one was hurt in those attacks, but unfortunately, when union members stormed an office in Florida, a volunteer’s arm was broken.

And now this

A Florida man has been charged with attempting to run over controversial Republican congresswoman Katherine Harris with his Cadillac. According to the below Sarasota Police Department report, Barry Seltzer, 46, told cops that he was simply exercising his “political expression” when he drove his car at Harris and several supporters, who were campaigning last night at a Sarasota intersection.

RedFred, you weren’t in Sarasota last night, were you? We all know how much you like those street sign holders! ;) Just kidding. It’s one thing to say it - - it’s a whole other thing to follow through and do something as ridiculous and dangerous as this.

When was the last time you heard about a Republican acting out, violently, towards someone from the left?? I’m not saying it can’t happen - - or hasn’t happened — because there are crazies on both sides of the political line (hello?? Timothy McVeigh!) - but I haven’t heard much of this kind of behaviour coming from the right during this election year. But then, maybe I haven’t been paying enough attention - - if you’ve heard it, let me know!

Errr… can’t stay long…. if anyone asks, you ain’t seen me OK! I wonder if Mr. Seltzer had read my earlier comments on running these baffoons down!

If your going to do it I can’t think of a better one to run down than Katherine Harris, supervisor of elections for Florida 2000…… she is responcible for the hanging Chad issue, recounts and non recounts, and according to some responcible for putting Dubya where he is today. but not I… I have nothing against Kathy, thats my story and you can’t prove otherwise.

“When was the last time you heard about a Republican acting out, violently, towards someone from the left??”

    Um…Eric Rudolph?

Generally, I like to think of this as a “crazy people” thing, not a left vs. right thing. For every DUer, there’s a Freeper serving as his Doppleganger in a parallel universe. But yeah, the number of attacks on Republican person and property this year has been appalling.

Yea - Eric Rudolph is one, for sure. Except, I was kind of thinking more along the lines of people’s reaction to this election year. Seems the left is acting out toward the right everytime I look at the news — as if that is somehow going to swing the election in their favor?

Can i just say for the record when, sorry if, I do flip out and start running down sign wavers I will be completely bipartizan about it…

I’m sure there’s got to be someone Republican out there doing something besides the occassional stolen sign…

Unbelievable. Definitely a “crazy person” thing, not left or right. 2 college guys in North Carolina slapped eachother over who Jesus would vote for. I’ll try to find the link and get back, if I can.

There is a reason why many of the COPS shows are taped here in Florida.

Yet another example of that liberal tolerance we hear so much about.

How many criminal/violent acts against Bush supporters have we seen by now? I’ve lost count.

Hey Zero Boss, thanks for posting that. I was just making a point about this on my blog as well about these acts. I added the link in my comments as well.

the nutbag was living about 1.5 miles from me. He’s a bit farther away now, while he’s in jail.

He could get 30 years–particularly as he seems rather unrepentant–but he’ll probably cop to 15. Personally, I’m hoping for a Cadillac-sized suppository.

Harris is MY congresscritter! And she’s already got my vote.

Zero Boss: I strongly doubt that Rudolph would consider himself a Republican. More a libertarian/white aryan supremicist, I think.

scarey..they’re shooting up the GOP offices, burning signs, stealing signs and scaring the bejeezus out of people…worrisome sign of desperate times…Cao

he is charged with “aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.” but I’m sure he will plead out to a lesser charge. I don’t think he ever seriously considered actually running her down, he just took a practical joke a little too far…. OK a lot too far.

  17. Lisa
    8:09 am on October 28th, 2004

Some joke - I’m just busting a gut laughing over here

  18. RedFred
    8:19 am on October 28th, 2004

Practical jokes, taken too far seldom are funny….. have you never done something similar with your car?

  19. Lisa
    8:20 am on October 28th, 2004

You mean like point my car at someone and joke around about running them down because they aren’t on my political side of the line? Can’t say that I have, Fred - have you?

  20. RedFred
    8:34 am on October 28th, 2004

Not specifically for political reasons, but I have joked around with my friends, not to the extent that I have mounted the sidewalk, but a little dink, sure. Like I said taken too far it certainly isn’t funny but the way you are all talking you would think this guy was a psychotic axe murderer. I’m sure if he actually intended harm he would have had no problems taking her out. If you want psychotic look to the guy with the screwdriver.

Just one more point, all of the people who attack people because of their political affiliation are pathetic but their actions reflect on their own idiocy not the party that they claim to support.

  21. John
    12:22 pm on October 28th, 2004

RedFred: “Psychotic axe murder” doesn’t seem a far off estimate, actually. If they guy’s lucky, he might find a lawyer who will plead insanity for him and keep him out of prison.

But it wasn’t a joke, it was an assault with a deadly weapon, and he pretty much epitomizes the intolerant left.

I guess that is for a court to decide, I heard that he claimed he didn’t intend to harm her, but then so much of what you read these days is spun out of control by the partizan media.

I’ve had every single one of my “KERRY” signs (3 of them) stolen. Not exactly violence directed toward me. When I had a “SUPPORT THE TROOPS, END THE WAR IN IRAQ” sign up, it was ripped up (hard to do — heavy duty plastic!)and smeared with something vile. Dog crap, I think.

My neighbor had her peace symbol flag stolen.

But so far the only person who’s tried to run me down is the sweet 85-year-old down the street who should have his license taken away from him. Hmmmm He is a republican, though! IT’S A CONSPIRACY!

How do you know these are all acts perpetrated by liberals? Have you ever seen a pissed off rebublican? I have. They are just as crazy as a pissed off democrat, they bomb entire countries.

  25. Lisa
    10:50 pm on October 31st, 2004

Well scott, this particular act I blogged about above was an act of agression against republicans by a democrat. Read the article.

Are you suggesting that a Democrat has never bombed another country?

    Ever?

    Never?

Never authorized use of force either?

    Oh.
