Good morning, crazies

Business first - - we experienced a random DDoS attack on our datacenter last night, approximately between the hours of 9:30pm and 12:30am. Sites are loads were intermittent. At one point, 38% of all traffic going to the datacenter was being lost. Our datacenter techs were hard at work last night and have now fully restored the upstream provider and all is well. Aside from a bit of a server load issue and some slow mail, no subsequent problems were a result of the attack - no data loss or server issues. The attack was on our datacenter, not on our server - it was not directed or pointed at any of our servers. For those of you with a vested interest, we posted alert and progress updates here.

On the debate last night - - my President did extremely well. A much better performance over last week’s debate, by far. I still worry about his presentation, however - - while he did a much better job, he still tends to come off as a petulant schoolboy who is being accused of stealing the kickball. Kerry’s ‘plan’ lacks substance and for him to say he won’t raise taxes in order to pay for his ‘plans’ lacks credibility, to say the least.

I’m worried about these elections. I’m worried about a Kerry win and what it will do to this country at such a critical time in our history. Kerry has proven to be alarmingly inconsistent in matters of foreign policy and national defense - and above all else, that is my major concern. When I boil it all down to the lowest common denominator - - I am left with safety. Keep me safe.

Taxes, the economy, the national deficit, unemployment, tort reform, social security, education, health care - - all of those issues are extremely important to me and mine. However, above all that - the voice in my head (I have a few of them) that is screaming the loudest right now is the one that demands protection for my family. Keep me safe. Keep the people of this country safe, as much as humanly possible. Bush and his administration are the team to lead that charge - as heavy as that burden may be.

I have absolutely zero faith in John Kerry and John Edwards and their ability to accomplish that.

For me, that is what it boils down to, period. The rest is secondary. Important, but secondary.

Of course, now that I say that - - I’ll probably walk off the curb tomorrow and get hit by a bus and my headstone will read, “They didn’t keep her safe.”

Ahh..life.

Don’t get hit by a bus…my skins aren’t done yet. I agree with the “keep me safe” opinion. A lot of the sticky platform points don’t affect me, but the minimizing the threat of needing to duct-tape up my windows is a universal concern.

Mornin’ Lisa and Stacy - it goes without saying that I agree with you both :) The early results from the debate show that this one wasn’t a ‘homerun’ for Kerry like the last one allegedly was. The poll results are within the margin of error.

That Kerry is one slick bastard, though. I can see how some less-um, thoughtful Americans would fall for his BS. He’s saying everything possible to get elected - then he’ll turn on you.

Pray for a Bush win! (And a Packer win Mon night - hee hee). Two of my favorite men - Bush and Favre. :)

K! The Packers on Monday night! I can’t wait - - hopefully their losing streak will be broken ?

Hey, I’d vote for a Bush/Farve ticket in a heartbeat lol

Sounds like you’ve got Kerry figured out pretty well, K :)

So I take it Favre is playing Monday night?

Lisa - a lot of us would :) Favre was voted the toughest guy in America in the Men’s Journal a few months back (it’s on my bedstand, still)…I think Bush could be up there too. Even the fact that they both woke up one day to give up their additions shows me personal strength and conviction…but I could ramble on.

Yes, Sister :) Although he’ll be missing practices this weekend for the funeral, he’s supposed to start. Wouldn’t have it any other way. Hope it’s another magical game like Oakland last year. I have some recent articles about him on my site. He’s a jokester :). Lucky, lucky, Deanna.

Holy crap - just realized I will be in MKE 2 weeks from now - to head up to GB for the Dallas game! Lisa, the best tix I have found for the Dec games are still $200 - if you want them, let me know. Club seats, face value.

    Have great weekends, all.

    K
