Over at alwaysvictoria.com - - she has definately got the right idea.
Lately - as I mentioned in an earlier post - - I’ve received a few offers for a Gmail invite. I’ve turned them down because I really don’t have a use for it, at all. For reasons of practicality and reasons of personal issues I have with the whole concept.
However - - free email services may be the only way the troops have to stay in contact with friends, family and those back home who want to correspond with them. So, over at Gmail4Troops - they have this to say:
Gmail is the new email service from Google (www.Gmail.com) They are offering 1 GigaBybe (1000 megabytes) of free space for its users (compared to 100 megabytes for Yahoo, and 5 megabytes for Hotmail) The Interface is also VERY speedy compared to whats out there. Right now it’s in beta testing and is invite only. People are swapping invites for silly things. Troops abroad have a real use for these accounts. Loved ones can send them movies or photos from home and they don’t have to worry about having to delete things.
So all you Gmail-ites - - stop giving your Gmail away to random people and take all those Gmail invites and give them away to some folks who put their lives on the line every single day for this fine country of ours. Offer all those Gmail invites to the troops! Go. Now.
**Update**
Or just go give it to Robert. He just wants one - - he’s not a member of our nation’s troops. Give our troops your first thought — give Robert your second. I promised him I would push for a Gmail account for him. ![]()

Hey Lisa, thanks for publicizing this. I ran across this story over at Roland Allen’s blog. I am donating two gmail accounts to the troops. I have one left that is tentatively already given away…will know for sure tomorrow. Tell your friend to email me though. I will keep him in mind if I get more invites.
BTW, Hi!

What’s the advantage here? Gmail offers 1000 MB and I have 1600 MB and, yes, that includes the site in said total but I am nowhere close to that goal.
Yahoo has upped it’s quota to 100 MB, still a far cry from my 1600 MB.
So, why bother? To giv…
