Debate Readiness!

on: Sep/30/04 and its been viewed 1,106 times

It’s time to shut down and settle in front of the TV to watch the debates!

Over on Right Voices, I put up the Debate Feed off the George W. Bush website. Each time John Kerry says something false or inaccurate during the debates, the live feed will be updated instantly with the facts. The Bush campaign has clearly recognized the power of blogs and has made this available to add to our websites.

I’ll be having my laptop near me and watching the debate feed. Right now - prior to the debates . . the debate feed reports this:

RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie On Reports John Kerry Wanted Timer Lights Removed From His Podium After Agreeing To Have Timer Lights On His Podium:

RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie: “Only John Kerry Could Be For The Lights Before He Was Against The Lights.” (Fox News’ “Big Story,” 9/30/04)

This oughta be fun!

“Each time John Kerry says something false or inaccurate” … isn’t there any chance of Bush saying something false or inaccurate then?
The opinions I’ve seen so far all seem to think that Kerry came off better. A couple of examples from the “other side of the pond” -

(You’d hate The Guardian if you were living over here! The BBC is generally unbiased though).

yawn… did I miss anything? sorry I had something more important to do, like re-wash my socks. Anyway the papers all say Kerry “won” so thats it then lets just pack up and go home. The more I see of Kerry the less I like him….. the same is true of Bush of course and I’ve been seeing him for a lot longer! Probably a good thing that I don’t get a vote (Ironic really considering the whole “taxation without representation” thingie) I’ll just chain my Republican wife to the kitchen sink on polling day…

I thought the debates were a draw, actually. In terms of content, Bush had the advantage. Except I was dissapointed with how ‘on the defense’ and aggravated he seemed through it all. Surely not his strongest performance, to date. Looking forward to #2.

RedFred - agreed, I thought the ‘game show’ lights were ridiculous. The idea was negotiated by the Bush camp, I guess, as a means of trying to throw off Kerry - who doesn’t seem to know when to stop talking. I dont’ think the lights were necessary, quite honestly.

Time- I thought the debate feed put out by the Bush Campaign was an excellent idea.. . from a technology point of view. And from a debate analysis point of view. I suppose it infers that Bush would never say anything false - but that’s not the contention here. The debate feed’s purpose was to point out false points made by Kerry. Kerry’s campaign could have done the same thing, but they didn’t. Excellent idea on the Bush side, in my opinion.

“I thought the debates were a draw” Shock horror !!!! I didn’t see that comming:lol::lol::lol: The lights are completley pointless, They both had their speeches timed to the second. Personally I’d rather watch infomercials. roll on November when we can get this all over with and have a good laugh at the Floridian voters.
