Checking in

Comments Off

ShareStill kicking over here. My lack of updates have nothing at all to do with my health (thanks for those who were concerned.) I think I mentioned a bit ago that posting would be light around here until I got things under control..I’m still working on it. My editors have me on a short leash (but, I’m almost completely done..there IS hope!) and my design clients have been keeping me hopping as our orders over…

Stuff in My Head

Comments Off

ShareThere’s been a WHOLE lotta work going on around here..and not so much play. It’s alright, though… I get a short reprieve the weekend of the 27th when I get to leave all this work behind for a few days and attend the Blogher conference. So far, I’m looking forward to meeting up with Kathy, Leanne, the folks from Wiley and (possibly) my wonderful clients over at Crank Mama (it was through their post that…

Whole Foods Infatuation

Comments Off

ShareIf you don’t have a Whole Foods in your area – count your blessings. No, really! It’s a phenomenal store and if I had one in my immediate area, I’d have to get a second job in order to support the obsession. For those not familiar with it – the basic concept is an entire natural, organic grocery store – no artificial anything to be found within. Think of a trendy shopping mall.. except, instead…

ShareMy favorite part of this song occurs at the very beginning where she whispers….Don’t look at me…

Christina Aguilera – Beautiful
It’s worth noting that my bird loves to sing along to this one.
It’s Tuesday.. this week is much better than last. Thanks for the support and encouragement I’ve received via email based on my last post (and for the virtual flowers, Stevie – that was really sweet!)… and Jeannette – I JUST got…

Roughin' It

Comments Off

ShareIt’s been a rough week, to say the least. I’m getting jacked around in a few different directions, which, of course, is playing havoc with my stress levels. Upon the advice of a close friend, I went for a 1-hour full body massage yesterday morning – and it did work wonders at decreasing the tension levels, but I’m finding it’s MUCH easier for that tension to raise, than it was to get it to decrease.…

Resolution Matters

Comments Off

ShareOver the weekend I had to reshoot all of the artwork for the book because, for several reasons I just won’t go into (who needs book authoring drama?), my artwork was rejected by the art department. I cannot begin to tell you how demoralizing that is for a designer! Heh. At any rate, the publishing company gives you a very strict set of requirements about how your monitor and system needs to be set before…

Piled High…. and Deep

Comments Off

ShareI had weekend plans. Truly, I did. Those plans were squashed with just a few phone calls through out my day today. Without going into any hairy details – I’ve entered into the final, final — did I say final, editing process of WordPress For Dummies. It’s been a long road – – the book and I have been through a lot together. I guess this is my opportunity to say my final goodbyes… soon…

The Police Were Hot on Her Tail

Comments Off

ShareMy lovely daughter, Melissa, is a sweet girl. She is bright, funny, charming and very, very social. She rarely gives us much trouble – – but, she’s also 16. The age of 16 doesn’t come and go without a handful of little disruptions in life – – it’s like a turning point when, suddenly, the very sweet girl who used to want to spend all her time in her Mom’s lap all of a sudden…
