You just knew that the mainstream media and left wing moonbats can’t hold themsevles back from bashing the memory and legacy of President Ronald Reagan, could they? Noooooo. Why did anyone expect them to? It’s too ripe a moment, isn’t it? I mean - from the party that boo’d Dick Cheney at Senator Wellstone’s Memorial - - the same party who turned that sad day into an opportunistic political rally. Why would anyone expect taste and class at a time of national mouring.
Examples please?:
Slate’s Timothy Noah - Ronald Reagan, Party Animal. The man who taught Republicans to be irresponsible - dated 6/5/04 - the day the President died. Tip via: Vinny with Typical Classless Bullshit.
Palast - - Reagan haters Unite - Killer, Coward, Conman - Good Riddance, Ronnie Reagan
Hitchens - A Cruel and Stupid Lizzard
Ted Rall - “Anyway, I’m sure he’s turning crispy brown right about now” - found via MadMikey
Where is the respect, or at the very least - tact? Is that TOO much to expect from the left? I understand they hated him - - but you’d think they could wait until the the man is laid to rest.
Yes, yes - I know- - it’s too much to expect. It’s idealistic and naive of me to expect respect, tact and decorum from the left, I know. Color me a silly girl with higher expectations and standards than the left could possible ever deserve. (with minor exceptions of a few good leftists that I know, personally.)
**Update More Idiots Weigh In**
Morrissey - Bush should have died, not Reagan.

Sadly, it seems more and more Politics is turning into High School antics. Or maybe i’m just noticing it more and more as I grow up.

I think you’re noticing it more as you grow up. The partisanship has been there for a long long time. maybe it’s getting worse as the media blurs the line between what is a source and what isn’t a source. Or as people take more liberties with what is and isnt’ appropriate.
razzing Reagan on the eve of his death is just cold. You’d think they could at least wait until the funeral.

ok, I am really pissed after reading about Morrissey’s comment. I mean REALLY pissed. You don’t like Bush. Fine. But to wish death on ANY sitting president is the biggest mofo ever.

Come on, do you really think the right wingers are going to be utterly respectful when someone like Clinton kicks the bucket? Left or right, politicains all have the same problem - lust for power. Reagan had his good and his bad points like any president but you are mentioning the good and ignoring the bad.
Morrissey’s comments were out of order though.

Tim - I can only speak for myself in saying that my utter distaste for Clinton is pretty strong. However, it isn’t so blind that it would drive me to such utter disresect at the time of his death.
I can say that I would be holding any tributes, however - I won’t be dancing on his grave, either. More than likely - I’ll remain quiet.
I am not ignoring the bad - I know that there were strong reasons why the left hated Reagan. I guess, as I said - I’m idealistic in thinking that they could give their hatred a rest and at least wait until the corpse is cold.
Criticism is one thing - - outright hateful statements on the eve of his death is entirely different. If I had to guess - - I’d say no, the right wingers, by in large, wouldn’t participate in the mud slinging - - maybe after the funeral, but not on the moment of his passing.
Of course, I could be wrong - it’s been known to happen.

I dont know what else to say except some people just have no class, I dislike Clinton but I would never wish him dead, or cheer if he passed away. These are the supposed “peaceful” tolerant people who are saying awful things about a human being that tryed his best to do what he thought was right for America and the world. You know what they say, “it takes all kinds” and these people are idiots!
