The hypocrisy of a bunch of jet-setting multi-millionaires preaching the Green Gospel never fails to irk me. No amount of carbon offset indulgences from the Church of “do as I say, not as I do” are going to erase the self-alleged damage they do to the environment with their private jets and 30,000 square foot air-conditioned houses. Not to mention the vast amounts of hot carbon dioxide they emit while dumbing down America with their inane pseudo-scientific politicking.
It really takes balls for such an autoerotic group of egoists to suggest that the rest of America trade in their economic security and behavioral freedoms for a global temperature reduction of 0.05 degrees over 100 years (optimal result of global adoption of the Kyoto Protocol).
Go drive your Hummers. Go fly your jets. Just leave the rest of us alone.
I’m going to assume you liked Lewis Blacks rant, Mark ?
The hypocrisy is maddening. Not to mention the ‘carbon offsets’ they’re purchasing to make themselves feel like they are doing something about their immense carbon footprint are nothing but fluff and flutter. Something to justify why their talk doesn’t equal their walk. Anyone could see that type of fraud coming from miles away.
These folks are so out of touch..I’d have to laugh if it weren’t so utterly stupid.
Yeah, I’m generally a fan of Lewis Black. Especially since he seems to be an equal opportunity critic of the government (”Republicans are the party of bad ideas… Democrats are the party of no ideas.”) Although I say they’re both parties of bad ideas.
Here’s a nice article about carbon offset fraud I read recently — fluff and flutter indeed.

Haven’t seen much of Lewis Black before, but after this I think I’m going to be adding him to the Netflix list…

I wonder what does he do for earth day
Also, everyone can do something for earth with small things, like Oprah said in that clip, those bags, you don’t have to buy a car that runs on water.
That’s just my opinion
