An Election Prediction

on: Oct/24/04 and its been viewed 516 times

Here’s my prediction . . .

If George W. Bush loses - - he will concede like a gentleman. No fan fair. No delays. No recounts. No lawyers.

If George W. Bush wins - - his opposition will kick and scream like babies on fire. Demands of recounts. Charges of voter fraud and intimidation. Lawyers, like bloodhounds, stalking our court system. Cries of stolen elections . . the whole bit.

It’s just my feeling. I could be wrong . . . it’s been known to happen.

It will be interesting to see how you react if Kerry wins

Oh…so he won’t go to the Supreme Court like the last time he lost?

    We’ll see. I’ll check back on 11-3.

Tim - I’ve already said that I’ll need to be heavily medicated ;)

Well, yea Jay - that’s what happens when your opponent refuses to concede. :D

    My thoughts exactly, Lisa.
On Nov. 2nd, I’ll have a bottle of wine ready…either to celebrate or drown myself in!

I gotta disagree. I don’t see Dubya conceding with grace. It’s just not his style. Yep, he’ll probably see if daddy’s lawyer friends can once again perform a miracle.

Interesting, Shelley - - do you see Kerry conceding with grace?

Al Gore conceeded a race he didn’t lose. If that isn’t grace…

Get over it, already, Laura. Gore lost. Every court in the land said so.

Jay obviously didn’t pay attention to what happened in Florida, or else he would know that the first court challenge was made by Gore, who requested that only certain votes be recounted, and Bush asked that all of them be recounted or none of them, since counting some more carefully would make them more important than the rest of the votes that Gore didn’t want recounted.

It’s all very simple if you have a brain.

Oh wait, Jay doesn’t have one.

why is it the sites i read that does name calling or bashing or calls for division is conservatives ..when we should be calling for unity?

who was it that said, “one mirrors their own behavior” (inner self)? (careful now i know, i wanna see if you do?)

peace love and pass that joint ;-)

Probably ’cause you don’t read enough sites on this here interweb.

cafeRg - maybe because these sites that you’re reading are being realistic?

Your faith in Bush and the (R)epublican party is laudable but I’m afraid that the court challenges will fly thick and fast regardless of who wins - unless it is a win by a solid margin of course, and even then I imagine judges will still be involved.

Surely you haven’t missed the cries of both the (D)s and the (R)s about voter fraud, intimidation, and manipulation, that started weeks ago… passions are high, divisions are wide, lawyers are primed, the loonies on both sides are wound as tight as the strings on my old guitar - the tone is set and it sounds like your in for a rough ride.

I think that no matter who wins the vote will be contested. The last election was just a preview of the way elections will be fought in the future. I see it all going down hill, negative ads and lawsuits are going to become just a part of “normal” politics… sigh.

(First time to your blog… love it!)

Last time it came down to a couple of thousand votes at the most, I think Gore was justified to demand a recount, especially considering the debacle in Florida. I would have been astonished if the roles were reversed if Bush would have not made the exact same challenges.

There was a reason for the kicking and screaming, Florida was forged purely and simply, think of all the black men that couldn’t vote based that they might have a criminal conviction (even minor) or they might remotely resemble the details of a felon.

Why thank you, SL - if anything, I strive to be laudable. And of course I haven’t missed the kicking and screaming coming from both sides on the election anticipation. My prediciton is just that - - a prediction. As stated, I could be wrong . . it’s been known to happen, ya know ;) I know - shocking, isn’t it? ;)
